About Leigh
Leigh Kader, Childbirth educator, birth & Postpartum doula, Certified lactation counselor

Propelled by the birth of her first child in 2008 to explore a career change, Leigh is a certified cooperative childbirth educator with and sits on the Board of Directors of the Childbirth Education Association of Metropolitan New York. Additionally, Leigh is a birth and postpartum doula, having completed training with the Doulas of North America, and a Certified Lactation Counselor. She has attended around 200 births and supported hundreds of families in a myriad of ways.
Leigh has taught group childbirth preparation classes with various businesses, as well as privates and everything in between. Her teaching style has been described by others as engaging, evidence-based, unbiased and most importantly fun!
Experienced at supporting laboring families in a variety of birthing facilities from hospital and birthing center to home births, Leigh appreciates that childbirth is an intensely personal experience that each family defines differently.
Leigh knows firsthand the benefits of a comprehensive childbirth education as well as the presence of continuous emotional and physical support during childbirth. Her goal is to help birthing families attain as positive a birth experience as possible.
History of Kin Doulas….
In 2013, during birth doula training, I met a KINdred spirit in Marni Deutsch. After informally backing each other up throughout much of 2014, a more formal doula partnership was the next logical step. From 2013 to 2020, we worked together to ensure our clients had access to relevant, evidence-based information so they could make informed choices about their own one-of-a-kind pregnancy, birth, postpartum adjustment and parenting style. We shared a brain and a google spreadsheet and over the years had the honor of supporting hundreds of families in NYC. Though Marni has stepped back from birth work for the time being, and I have moved out of the Metropolitan New York area, our partnership will forever hold a special place in my heart.
